The P.O.P. Factor

"Just the facts, ma'am." More often than not, politically correct bullshit won't be found here. Pardon me while I exercise my 1st amendment right! I welcome all to my little world of bitches, moans, gripes and complaints, and sometimes, the downright freakin' odd. Take a seat and join me. I love a good story.

A Sweet Predica-mint

The University of Tennessee book store has pulled from its shelves small cans of breath mints called "Disappoint-mint" that is a satirical expression of our present President's state of affairs.

Rep. Joe Armstrong (D) - aka: Strong-arm, was contacted by a student of the university who complained to him that he thought the mints were patently offensive. Armstrong elects himself Czar of Censorship and makes an appearance at the university, meeting with the Director of the Bookstore, David Kent.

Armstrong's Assess-mint of the 'offending' mints were that he considered them not only of no educational value, but they were also not 'viewpoint neutral' because they were insulting the President.  Whoop-dee-freakin' do!
Rep. Armstrong surely strong-armed the Director in to removing them from the shelves by pointing out that a college or university that received state and federal funding should be more politically sensitive. A veiled threat if ever I heard one.

Armstrong's own personal interpretation of the 1st Amendment is that since it was not educational material, it doesn't breech the right to free speech.  Been to a college bookstore lately?  There's an abundance of things in a college bookstore that could be categorized as not being educational material.  Like.....Candy!
The 1st Amendment doesn't have a candy exclusive clause.

Funny, it's perfectly acceptable to satirize the last President as an Embarrass-mint but not this one?  During the Bush Administration this same bookstore carried a mint satirizing Bush as an Embarrass-mint. How is it any more offensive, if at all?  No one complained then.  The President is a public official who will always be the recipient of insults, jokes and political cartoons. We can't satirize Pres. Obama because...?  Wait for it....gasp! ....he's black?

We are guaranteed that right under the 1st Amendment.

How much censorship do we have to endure that's all in the name of political correctness? I think we need to do a serious reassess-mint of our political leadership and get these liberal, socialist clowns out of Washington.

How dare "Strong Arm" Armstrong suppress what has been the right of the people since the Constitution was drafted.....or did he forget to read it?
Political satire is and always has been a part of college campuses everywhere.
Is Armstrong going to go to every college in Tennessee and check out their bookstores too?  The makers of these mints, The Unemployed Philosopher's Guild is about to make a mint from the exposure.

Armstrong is an asshole, pure and simple. Get rid of Armstrong along with similar people and we will eventually have a better country.

Our country is falling apart at the seams...where do we start?

He really should find something a little more important to do with his time instead of making half-assed interpretations of the Constitution.
